Six Danish films to Mumbai

Six Danish feature films are on their way to Mumbai Film Festival in India, where Martin Zandvliet's "Applause" will open the International Competition section.

This year, Mumbai Film Festival introduces an international competition section where Martin Zandvliet has been invited to participate with "Applause" along with 12 other first-time feature film directors.

The International Jury, which includes the American director and screenwriter Paul Schrader, has prizes for more than one million kroner at its disposal. The winner of the main award will receive half a million kroner.

Five other films participate in the festival's World Cinema Section: Annette K. Olesen's "Little Soldier", Heidi Maria Faisst's "The Blessing", Ole Bornedal's "Deliver Us from Evil", Kasper Barfoed's "The Candidate", and Lars von Trier's "Antichrist".

Director Martin Zandvliet, screenwriter Anders August and actress Paprika Steen will be in Mumbai to present "Applause". The critically acclaimed film is running in Danish theaters.

The 11th Mumbai Film Festival is held from 29 October to 5 November.
