Top award to A Family in Los Angeles

FESTIVAL. Pernille Fischer Christensen's "A Family" picked up a top award at the Los Angeles Film Festival on Saturday.

The Rheinwald's, a proud family of bakers, is at the center of Pernille Fischer Christensen's "A Family" which was singled out by the Narrative Competition Jury at Los Angeles Film Festival on Saturday, 26 June.

Earlier this year, "A Family" won the international film critics' FIPRESCI award in Berlin and, most recently, received two awards at the Portuguese film festival Festroia in Setúbal.

Jesper Christensen plays the film's charismatic patriarch Rikard Rheinwald, baker and purveyor to the royal family, who falls seriously ill. His favourite daughter Ditte (Lene Maria Christensen), on her way to a new job in New York with her boyfriend Peter (Pilou Asbæk), is put to the test: Should she follow her own dreams or fulfill her father's wish that she take over the family business?
