Portrayal of estranged brothers by Festen's director

"Submarino" by Thomas Vinterberg is a story about two brothers who were separated from each other at a young age by a tragedy that split their entire family. Today, Nick's life is drenched in alcohol and plagued by violence, while his kid brother struggles as a junkie to give his son a better life. Their paths cross, making a confrontation inevitable, but is redemption possible?

The script for "Submarino" is by Tobias Lindholm and Thomas Vinterberg, and Morten Kaufmann produced for Nimbus Film. The brothers in the film are played by Jakob Cedergren, a Berlin Shooting Star in 2005, and Peter Plaugborg. "Submarino" will be released in Danish cinemas 25 March 2010.

"Submarino" is Thomas Vinterberg's third film in Danish since his pivotal international breakthrough "The Celebration"/"Festen" (1998), the first Dogme film and winner of the Special Prize of the Jury at Cannes. His two English-language features that followed, "It's All About Love" (2003) and "Dear Wendy" (2005), were selected for Sundance.
