Danish production company Zentropa launches a new video platform, ZentropaonDemand.com, to distribute the company's films.
"Zentropa has experienced an enormous interest from fans all over the world but the costs of distributing films via traditional media have made it difficult to meet the demand until now," the press release reads.
Zentropa on Demand premieres on 18 May and gives access to the company's entire catalogue – from Lars von Trier's debut "Element of Crime" from 1984 to Susanne Bier's Oscar winner "In a Better World". Other Danish directors, whose films will be made available on the new platform, are Per Fly, Niels Arden Oplev, Annette K. Olesen, Kristian Levring, Lone Scherfig, Thomas Vinterberg, Nikolaj Arcel, Simon Staho and Christian E. Christiansen.
Users of Zentropa on Demand will also get exclusive access to films that have never been released on DVD, the company announces. These are, for instance, rare short films and non-published extra-material from the archives.
