Bo Damgaard in charge of FilmFyn

FILM PEOPLE. Chairman of the DFI board and former TV 2 head Bo Damgaard is appointed new director of the regional film fund FilmFyn.

Bo Damgaard has been named managing director of the Danish regional film fund FilmFyn. Damgaard will begin his new appointment on 1 July.

FilmFyn is part of the EU project North Sea Screen Partners and is a film fund as well as a regional film commission. FilmFyn covers the southern part of the island of Funen and carries a budget of 1.5M euro per year of which more than 1M euro is invested in feature films shot on location in the area. Since 2003 the film fund has been engaged in 35 productions, including Susanne Bier's Oscar winner "In a Better World".

Bo Damgaard has many years of experience in the film and television industry and has served as chairman of the board at the Danish Film Institute since April 2010.

"FilmFyn's gain is our loss," CEO of the Danish Film Institute Henrik Bo Nielsen says in a comment on Bo Damgaard's departure. "We've had a very good collaboration and I wish him the best of luck. Now we look forward to welcoming a new chairperson soon to be appointed by the Minister of Culture Per Stig Møller."

At FilmFyn Bo Damgaard replaces Lars Hermann who is now heading the Copenhagen Film Festivals in charge of the three major Danish festivals CPH:DOX, CPH PIX and the children's festival BUSTER.
