Cannes

Danish films have taken part in the Cannes Festival since 1946. Find out about films and awards.

The Cannes Festival is one of the world's most prestigious film festivals, held for the first time in 1946. The festival usually takes place every year in May.

The Golden Palm or Palme d'Or is Cannes' top prize, awarded to the best film in the Competition.

The main programme, the 'Official Selection', primarily consists of the Competition and Un Certain Regard. The film school competition, La Cinef, is also part of 'Official Selection'.

In addition, the festival consists of a number of important sidebar competitions, including Directors' Fortnight and Critics' Week.
