The garden of Calabria

On sacred grounds in the southern Italian state of Calabria, century-old catholic paintings and historic furniture fill the 1970’s mansion. In the gardens, the family of Tirabassi feed the sheepdogs, dry the white sheets, water the grass, and exercise in the pool while singing. Today the women of the family have taken responsibility for the house and its surrounding farmland. These women are the pillars of this paradise. The Garden of Calabria is an attentive mosaic of the everyday rituals of dogs and people maintaining the transience of life.
