IKEA elsker træ

Tom Heinemann, Denmark, 2024

58 min.DK/Documentary

Investigative documentary about one of the world's largest consumers of wood. Every second a tree is cut down to become an affordable IKEA product. IKEA claims it's all sustainable. But is it true? The documentary visits IKEA's forests in the Romanian Carpathian mountains - an area with some of the last old-growth forests in Europe and where illegal logging is widespread. According to independent experts, IKEA violates several of the rules that would otherwise protect the forest, wildlife and biodiversity.
