Actually a composite of slides, accompanied by a matter-of-fact narrative voice, this film is photographer Jacob Holst's picture of how he saw life in the U.S. by actually living, over five years, with Americans, from millionaires to sharecroppers and slum-dwellers. Twelve of Holst's friends were actually murdered. Aspects of racism and looming social breakdown are glaringly, but soberly illuminated.
