What was Cobra? A group or union of artists or as expressed by the Belgian poet Christian Dotremont, »a relatively organized movement«. Dotremont is the main figure in this report on Co(penhagen), Br(uxelles), A(msterdam). Cobra was established in 1948. The movement included painters, sculptors and poets. but also architects, photographers, film-makers a.o. Cobra existed until 1951. In the film the philosophy and the power behind Cobra is introduced and its many outstanding members, among them Appel, Constant, Corneille, Asger Jorn, Joseph Noiret, Pierre Alechinsky, Egill Jacobsen and Henry Heerup.
