'This Mechanical Place' combines footage of modified tractors in competition, high-octane graphics and a deconstructed Euro-dance soundtrack by Danny L. Harle. Shot at the European Tractor Pulling Championships, the film explores themes of modification, masculinity and routine pleasures. These tractors are incapable of ploughing a field or harvesting crops. Wholly detached from their original function and now covered in bright paint jobs and shiny chrome, these heavy horsepower machines have found a new purpose.
