Ngoma in Tanzania

As in so many developing countries, the people of Tanzania stand in a conflict between adopting western culture or preserving their own cultural roots: Music, song, and dance, all with one word referred to as NGOMA. Ngoma is synonimous with feast. How will a traditional culture survive in competition with western culture? What does the educational system do to preserve traditions?
