The Warhol nation

Jakob Kirstein Høgel, Denmark, 1997

DK/Documentary

At the beginning of this century, the parents of Andy Warhol emigrated to the States from a remote Rusyn Valley village in Carpathians, in Slovakia. Even though Warhol was born in the States and never visited his parents' native soil, the Rusyns have taken him to their hearts. The film describes how Warhol as a figure takes on new dimensions in the old country - not by virtue of his art but by virtue of his fame.
