Den bedste Harold Lloyd-film efter mange kenderes mening, om end ikke en af de mest berømte. De komiske optrin er dybt originale – Harold opfinder f.eks. opvaskemaskinen ved hjælp af et fiskenet og en pejs – og de tjener alle til at understøtte historien. Harold er den yngste af sheriffens fire voksne sønner, en splejs sammenlignet med de tre andre lumberjack-typer. Da skumle tilrejsende stjæler landsbyens pengebeholdning til en ny dæmning, træder han dog i karakter – ikke mindst for at vinde smukke Jobyna Ralstons hjerte. Nyd optrinnet, hvor Harold undgår at få bøllebank af sine storebrødre ved strategisk at tage sin hjertenskær rundt til steder i huset, hvor storebrødrene ikke tør vise sig i pyjamas for hende. Højdepunktet er Harolds jagt på to af forbryderne på et strandet skib. Harold viser her, hvordan man kan tåle at blive slået i hovedet med et jernrør. Det er lattergas på spoleform – i en smukt restaureret udgave.
Widely considered Harold Lloyd’s best film among aficionados, if not the most famous. The comedic scenes are highly original – for example, Harold invents a dishwasher using a fishing net and a fireplace. All the humor supports the story: Harold is the youngest of the sheriff’s four sons and is a scrawny underdog compared to his lumberjack-like brothers. When devious outsiders steal the town's funds, earmarked for a dam, Harold steps up – not least to win the heart of the lovely Jobyna Ralston. Enjoy the scene where Harold avoids a bashing from his older brothers by strategically taking his beloved to places inside the house where they dare not appear in pajamas before her. The climax involves Harold chasing two of the criminals on a stranded ship, where he demonstrates how you can withstand being hit in the head with an iron pipe. Audiences are in for reels of comedy gold – now in a beautifully restored version.
