En ung sanger vender Gud og sin fars kirke ryggen, da han rammes af en frygtelig tragedie. Han vender hjem flere år senere og finder menigheden i oprør. Da hans barnedoms nemesis forsøger at skabe en ny vision for kirken, bliver han nødt til at tackle sine problemer med familien og sin egen tro.
