I et forsøg på at lægge sin tvivlsomme fortid bag sig, flytter den østeuropæiske immigrant Olive til Oklahoma sammen med sin 10-årige søn Bobby. Olives eneste ønske er give sin søn en kærlig opvækst, men tingene vendes snart på hovedet, da hendes kriminelle baggrund indhenter hende.
