En selvstændig fortsættelse af "Jagten på den forsvundne skat", hvori helten, den amerikanske arkæolog og eventyrer Indiana Jones overlever et flystyrt og senere i Indien indblandes i en religiøs sekts fanatiske gøremål med henblik på at opnå større magt. Sekten har bl.a. røvet nogle store diamanter fra en landsbybefolkning, men det lykkes Indiana Jones at finde diamanterne og udrydde sektens overhoved.
