På en tur gennem Texas tilbage i 1969 bliver de to unge brødre Dean og Eric samt deres kærester Chrissie og Bailey stoppet af Sherif Hoyt, der beordrer dem ind i patruljebilen og kører dem til Hewitt familiens hjem, hvor Leatherface og resten af klanen venter på nyt blod. Mirakuløst undslipper Chrissie, og det går hurtigt op for hende, at kun hun kan redde de tre. Godt gemt uden for huset bliver hun imidlertid snart vidne til familiens syge leg med hendes kæreste og venner.
