Juliette Fontaine løslades efter femten år i fængsel og får husly hos sin lillesøster Léa, som bor sammen med sin mand og deres døtre. Livet udenfor fængslets mure viser sig at blive en stor prøvelse for den fåmælte Juliette, som ikke lader nogen komme hende nær.
