Bolsjoj Teatrets feterede dirigent Andrei Filipov faldt i unåde under kommunismen, da han nægtede at rense sit orkester for jøder og andre folkefjender. Siden har Andrei været vicevært på sin gamle arbejdsplads ¿ og da han ved et tilfælde ser en invitation til orkestret i firmaets fax, griber han muligheden og samler sit gamle orkester.
