On Dangerous Ground
Den principløse politimand Jim Wilson (Robert Ryan) sendes til en bjergby upstate for at undersøge mordet på en teenagepige. Selvom han bliver mødt af et lokalsamfund, der i højere grad tror på selvtægt end en city slickers hjælp, bliver han draget af stedet – særligt da han møder den blinde Mary (Ida Lupino). Nicholas Ray bruger det åbne snelandskab til fulde, så hans karakterer formindskes til små prikker i et abstrakt-hvidt rum.
