The Big Lebowski
“Ve vant ze money, Lebowski!”. Coen-brødrene leverer (igen-igen) en vanvittig historie fuld af sære eksistenser og elskelige idiotiske indfald.
Den midaldrende hippie ’The Dude’ tilbringer det meste af sin rigelige fritid i en bowlinghal sammen med den småpsykotiske Vietnam-veteran Walter (John Goodman) og den ikke alt for opvakte Donny (Steve Buscemi).
’The Dude’ bærer det borgerlige navn Lebowski, og det deler han tilfældigvis med en fed, usympatisk rigmand. På grund af navnefællesskabet bliver han fejlagtigt overfaldet af et par gorillaer, der tilmed tisser på hans gulvtæppe. Opildnet af sine to bowlingkumpaner opsøger han den anden Lebowski for at få erstattet sit højtelskede tæppe. Og så har vi for alvor balladen.
Jeff Bridges er fremragende som det overvintrede blomsterbarn, Julianne Moore giver sig fuldt ud som nøgenmaler-furien Maude Lebowski flankeret af Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Turturro og flere andre kendte navne i små glansroller.
