PlayDead's eerie two-dimensional indie hit "Limbo" is the first Danish game to win at The Game Developers Choice Awards, regarded among the most important awarding events in the gaming industry. It is held in connection with the annual Game Developers Conference. Winners are found through a vote among game developers.
The game was nominated in seven categories, and is also up for four awards at the Baftas, held later this month.
"Limbo" is funded by New Danish Screen – Game Development Support and according to Eurogamer.dk it was the third best selling game on Xbox Live last year with an estimated revenue of 6,7 million euro.
The distribution of prizes largely turned out in favour of "Red Dead Redemption", Rockstar Games' six shooter hit. The game took home prizes in categories Game of the Year/Best Game, Excellence in Audio, Excellence in Game Design and Best Technology.
