Darkland vying for Moscow's Golden George

FESTIVAL. Fenar Ahmad's revenge thriller "Darkland" is invited to the main competition at Moscow Film Festival, which sets off on 22 June.

Fenar Ahmad's second film "Darkland" is one of eleven feature films in competition for Moscow Film Festival's top prize, the Golden George, as the festival rolls out the red carpet for this year's edition from 22 to 29 June.

"Darkland" is a story about a successful surgeon, Zaid, who takes on the criminal underworld of Copenhagen to revenge his murdered brother. However, his persistent battle results in serious consequences for himself and his family, and he has to decide if the price of revenge is worth it all.

The film, featuring Dar Salim in the lead, was seen by 180,000 cinemagoers at its domestic premiere in January and has sold to a number of countries.

Fenar Ahmad made his feature debut with "Flow" (2014), which screened at the film festivals in London and Göteborg, and he won several awards for his short film "Megaheavy" (2010).

"Darkland" is produced by Jacob Jarek for Profile Pictures with support from the Danish Film Institute and national broadcaster DR. Trustnordisk handles international sales.
