A political agreement has been reached on a Danish production rebate for films and series

PRODUCTION SUPPORT. The Danish production rebate scheme will come into effect in 2026.

The scheme allows for 25% of the costs associated with production in Denmark to be reimbursed. To prevent a few larger productions from exhausting the pool, a cap of DKK 20 million (approx. €2.68 million) has been set for individual productions.

There will be an annual pool of DKK 100 million (approx. €13.4 million) for series, films and documentaries and a pool of DKK 25 million (€3.35 million) for animation.

There will be two application rounds annually, where the selection of productions that can participate in the scheme will be based on objective criteria, including a production and culture test that rewards productions with many shooting days in Denmark and that make use of the strong Danish film industry and talent pool.

The scheme will be administered by the Danish Agency for Culture and Palaces. The Danish Film Institute will promote the scheme internationally.

NB! There is a reservation that the scheme can be established within the EU's state aid rules, including within the framework of the Block Exemption Regulation.
