Scandinavian imprint on New York drama

Nimbus producer Mikkel Jersin is on board Joachim Trier's "Louder Than Bombs", a New York-set drama with Isabelle Hupert, Gabriel Byrne, Jesse Eisenberg and Devin Druid.

"What makes Louder Than Bombs so unique is Joachim Trier's personal Scandinavian imprint in an American context," says Mikkel Jersin.

Nimbus producers Jersin and Bo Ehrhardt make up the Danish co-producing team of Joachim Trier's New York-set drama, a co-production between Norway, France and Denmark.

About Louder Than Bombs

Louder Than Bombs, a story of upheaval and reunion in a modern family, is Norwegian director Joachim Trier's third feature – and his first in English:

An upcoming exhibition celebrating renowned photographer Isabelle Reed three years after her untimely death brings her eldest son back to the family home, forcing him to spend more time with his father and his withdrawn younger brother than he has in years. The father, Gene, tries desperately to connect with his two sons, as they struggle to reconcile their feelings about the wife and mother they remember so differently.

Louder Than Bombs is shot in New York and features Gabriel Byrne, Isabelle Huppert, Jesse Eisenberg and Devin Druid. Norway's Thomas Robsahm has produced for Motlys. The film has received minor co-production funding from the Danish Film Institute.

Realising a Shared Vision

"Joachim and Danish editor Olivier Bugge Coutté edited the film at Nimbus in Copenhagen, so I've been able to follow a large part of the creative process at closest range. In my opinion, it's extremely beneficial for a film like this one that so many nationalities are working closely together to realise a shared vision. I am really proud of the result," says Mikkel Jersin.

Editor Olivier Bugge Coutté also worked with Joachim Trier on his two last films, Reprise and Oslo, August 31st. The Danish crew includes the Copenhagen visual-effects shop Ghost VFX.

Producing Scherfig and Rúnarsson

Mikkel Jersin graduated as a producer from the National Film School of Denmark in 2011 and also has a BA in Business Communication and International Marketing from Copenhagen Business School.

Today as a producer at Nimbus film, Jersin has several co-productions to his name, including Trier's Louder Than Bombs, Pernilla August's The Serious Game, from a script by Lone Scherfig, and Lisa Langseth's Hotel. Jersin recently co-produced Dagur Kári's feature Virgin Mountain, which premiered at this year's Berlin Film Festival.

Jersin is also producing Rúnar Rúnarsson's upcoming feature Sparrows, set for a release later in 2015.
