Corpus Christi has no regular plot, but in a succession of moods it circles round the war, in a big way and in a small way. It shows the violence and the aggressions smouldering beneath the surface. Not the war with soldiers and bombs, but the little war waged among everyday people. Quarrels and brawls. At a railway station. Among children at play. The war is viewed as a state of mind.
