Jiwan and his family live in Jhandakhedazin in India, and the film gives a description of their daily life in the village. Jiwan's uncle is a taxi-driver in Denmark, and Jiwan and his younger brother are very anxious to receive postcards from him, as he has promised to invite Jiwan to Denmark. However, Jiwan never goes to Denmark because his uncle has decided to return to India.
