Children of Poland

Nicolai Lichtenberg, Denmark, 1948

12 min.DK/DocumentaryDevelopment aid films

The orphan Janek roams among the ruins of his little Polish town. We follow him into his primitive home and see how other people have dug themselves into the earth and are living in caves. The help arrives. In the autumn of 1946 Danish philanthropical organisations sent motor-car convoys with food and doctors to help, especially the Polish children. A spark of the courage to live is lit in the younger generation.
