Speechless

Poul Rude, Denmark, 1990

22 min.DK/Documentary

A film about verbally speechless, mentally handicapped people's way of communicating with each other and their surroundings. Pictures, sound and music search for a way into the universe of psychoses. The beginning of the film is a poem written by Gustav Munch-Petersen:

Great happiness,
great happiness they've got,
born in the lowest land.
You see them everywhere
wandering-loving-weeping,
they go everywhere,
but in their hands they carry small things
from the last land.
