Estephan Wagner

(1976 – )

Director, editor. Born 4/6 1974. Graduated from the National Film and Television School in London. Originally trained as an editor in Germany.

Wagner has been working as a documentary director for more than a decade. His debut feature documentary 'Last Dreams' (2013) made its premiere at CPH:DOX. His second feature documentary 'Les Sauteurs' (2016) won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the Berlinale and was subsequently selected for festivals around the world. Wagner's films as a director have been selected for more than 130 festivals and won more than 32 awards.

Wagner is also behind the short documentary 'Sea of Sorrow – Sea of Hope' (2017), which he co-directed with his wife Marianne Hougen-Moraga. They continued their collaboration with the feature 'Songs of Repression' (2020), which won the main prize at CPH:DOX as well as the prize for best Chilean Film at Fic Valdivia and a Special Jury Mention at FiFiGrot in Toulouse.
