Fine & Mellow was founded in 2002 by directors Hella Joof and Jannik Johansen along with producer Thomas Gammeltoft and Nordisk Film Distribution. The cooperation resulted in Jannik Johansen's "Rembrandt" (2003) and thriller "Mørke" (2005), plus Hella Joof's popular comedy "Oh Happy Day" (2004) among others.
Director Henrik Ruben Genz has made several feature films for the production company. Especially his "Terribly Happy" (2008) was domestically and internationally acknowledged with multiple awards.
In 2011 the company was renamed "Eyeworks Fine & Mellow" as a part of a cooperation with the international independent production and distribution company Eyeworks. The newly named company produced director Per Fly's award winning Swedish feature film "Monica Z" (2013) among others.
