Margit er gift med maleren Erik Lind, da hun forelsker sig i godsejer Arvid Sund. Hun bryder dog af hensyn til Erik, og da han dør, møder hun Arvids bror, som sørger for, at hun og Arvid forenes (fra Poul Malmkjærs bog "Asta - Mennesket, myten og filmstjernen", 2000).
