Here you can see an overview of the nominations and prices awarded to Danish documentary film at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam.

IDFA stands for the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam and is one of the most important film festivals for documentaries. The festival has been held every year since 1988 and lasts 12 days.

In 2022, Lea Glob’s documentary 'Apolonia, Apolonia' was awarded the prestigious IDFA Award for Best Feature-Length Documentary in the International Competition. The film, filmed over 13 years, portrays the coming-of-age and artistic journey of French painter Apolonia Sokol. It received widespread acclaim and the top prize at the 35th edition of the festival.

Fast-forward to 2024, the Danish hybrid documentary 'About a Hero', directed by Piotr Winiewicz, was chosen as the Opening Film of IDFA’s 37th edition.
