HOMESICK follows the director’s story, as an adoptee. Set between Denmark’s windswept west coast and the mountains of South Korea, it traces the story of the Danish family, that hides domestic violence, divorce, and a suicide attempt behind it’s facade. It imagines the other lives that were erased or could have been in Korea. Through interviews, haunting landscapes and a reflective VO, Taekyung pieces together her perspective as the only adoptee in a Danish family and a life-long erasure from Korea. The film weaves personal memory and imaginations with the political realities of a transnational adoption system that has fallen from grace.
