300 miles to heaven

Maciej Dejczer, Poland, 1989

92 min.DK/FeatureYouth films

To Poles, Perestrojka did not mean instant easing of all shackles. Two brothers Jedrek, 15, and Grzes, 12, see their parents suffer in the aftermath of dictatorship and prepare their flight to Denmark. Director Maciej Dejzcer has a both sad and suspenseful story to tell of how the kids engineer their escape and of the way their hopes were thwarted once they reached their Promised Land.
