Andreas does not step on the lines when he walks on the pavement. Now and then he knocks his chest when he wants to protect himself. 9-year-old Andreas is carrying something unbearable: When it was his mother's birthday, he and his big brother Mikkel made a joke. Great success. Everybody was happy and Andreas got drunk. The next morning his father would take Mikkel to school on his motor cycle. But a traffic accident kills Mikkel and gives his father a brooding disposition. The family moves into a new house to start afresh. But neither the new house nor the kind, new class and teacher are able to relieve Andreas' great sorrow. He speaks to Mikkel through a home-made walkie-talkie. He gets the obsession that it is only a question of putting the clock back. He observes many rules and makes many tests.
