Kagera

The three characters; a priest, a medical teacher, and a grandmother relate their respective experiences of family loss, overshadowed by a common concern for the future. Living in the western shores of Lake Victoria in the Kagera district of Tanzania, all three have witnessed the passing away of one or more next of kin, in each case inflicted with the deadly AIDS virus. However, the personal confession of the priest, combined with the visual style of this film, serve to shed new light on the conventional profile of »Third World suffering«. This confrontation with death, or anxiety for the same: This one unavoidable destiny, can open shutters to a kingdom of global fellowship.
