René Sascha Johannsen has worked in the film industry for over 15 years, both as director and photographer. He has directed several documentary TV series, amongst others 'Destination Ohland' (2015), 'Homeless on Instagram' (2018) and the TV documentary 'Life in the Emergency Lane' (2011) for the national tv-station DR 3. He has also directed more than 30 music videos, amongst others the video for Lukas Graham's 'Seven Years'.
He was the director of photography and editor on Mads Brügger's 'The Red Chapel' (2009), which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival the same year in the World Cinema documentary selection.
He co-produced and co-edited Crystal Moselle's documentary 'The Wolfpack' (2015), which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival for best American documentary.
The feature-length documentary '7 Years of Lukas Graham' (2020) is his second documentary feature.
