Søren Fauli

Born 1963, Denmark. Graduated in direction from the National Film School of Denmark, 1989. Writer-director of numerous satirical works including fiction, documentaries, TV/radio programmes, music videos and stage drama. As director of commercials, Fauli has created several highly popular TV advertising series since the mid-1990s.

Reached his first popular success with the cult hit "De skrigende halse" (1992). Created a series of mockumentaries in the mid-1990s, where Fauli willingly exhibits his own weaknesses, including "Tvangsritualer"/"Obsessions" (1993), "Forsmåelse" (1995) and "Supermaterialisme"/"Supermaterialism" (1995). Debuted as a feature film director with the tongue-in-cheek period drama "Grev Axel"/"Count Axel" (2001), followed by the boxoffice hit "Polle Fiction" (2002), a crazy comedy based on one of Fauli's own commercial series. Winner of Best Documentary in Biarritz for his and Mikala Krogh's "Min morfars morder"/"My Grandad's Murderer" (2004), in which Fauli sets out to forgive his grandfather's murderer, a Danish SS-officer living in Germany.
