Anthony Dod Mantle Honoured in Germany

AWARD. Anthony Dod Mantle, cinematographer for Lars von Trier and Danny Boyle, will receive the prestigious 2011 Marburg Camera Award. This will take place on the occasion of the Marburger Camera Talks 4 and 5 March.

Anthony Dod Mantle is on the poster for this year's Marburger Camera Awards, an annual event bringing focus to the artistic accomplishments of film photographers.

Alumnus of the National Film School of Denmark, Dod Mantle received his major international breakthrough with Thomas Vinterberg's "The Celebration". He came to be a favourite of Lars von Trier, whom he worked with on "Dogville" and "Antichrist". In 2009 Dod Mantle won an Oscar for his work on Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire" and they continued their collaboration on Boyle's most recent "127 Hours". All these will be screened in a retrospective of Dod Mantle's works.

The guest of honour will receive the Marburg Camera Award on 4 March and will be present at the screenings for a series of talks about his films with colleagues, critics, scholars and the audience.

The award, writes the jury, is motivated by Dod Mantle's method of experimenting with diverse recording systems, his creative vision and his courage to break conventions.
