Berlin picks two Danish films

FESTIVAL. The Berlinale has selected two Danish films for the Generation 14plus programme: Heidi Maria Faisst's "Rebounce" and Rune Schjøtt's feature film debut "Skyscraper".

The Berlinale 2011 selection committee has announced their first pick of Generation films, and on the list for the Generation 14plus are Heidi Maria Faisst's "Rebounce" and Rune Schjøtt's feature film debut "Skyscraper".

"Rebounce", Faisst's second feature film, centres on the story of a young girl trying hard to win her mother's love. The relationship between mother and daughter is a recurring theme in Faisst's films, among them "The Blessing", double winner at Göteborg, and her short film "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". The director's graduation film "The Pact" was selected for Cinéfondation in Cannes.

Rune Schjøtt's feature film debut "Skyscraper", a coming-of-age story with a touch of black comedy, tells the story of Jon who is trapped by fate in a small town, until his feelings for a young blind girl points to new, promising horizons. Schjøtt was cowriter on Dagur Kári's "Dark Horse", selected for Cannes' Un Certain Regard.
