Carmen and her kid brother Adrian, nicknamed Babyface, must leave their affluent suburban life behind when their artist parents split up. Carmen is a rebel and absconds. The mother and Adrian now live in a small country house, where the mother seeks refuge in barren daydreaming. Adrian has to cope with mobbing in a new school, while a young woman teacher tenderly makes life a little brighter for him.
