In the form of a picture poem the film describes how electricity has overcome the forces of darkness. Rather than giving facts about electricity and light the film takes a poetic and philosophical view on the subject and its significance for our lives and consciousness. Quotations from Bønnelycke, Strindberg and Hans Christian Andersen on light and technology are used as the commentary of the film.
