Director. Born 1/9 1968. Prior to graduating in direction from the National Film School of Denmark, 1995, Svendsen wrote and directed for television. She has been writer-director of the stage production 'Emma's Dilemma' (1995) and of several short fiction films.
Her short film 'Royal Blues' (1997) won the Grand Prix at Odense, the Nordic Film Award and a Danish Film Academy Robert Award.
Svendsen made her feature film debut with the socio-political satire 'Gone with the Fish' (1999). She helmed the popular children's television series 'Max' (2007), also sent out in three theatrical versions: 'Max the Movie' (2008), 'Max Embarrassing 2' (2011) and 'Max Embarrassing Goes to the Festival' (2012). The first film was named best film at the children and youth festivals in Antwerpen and Zlin, respectively, and received a Special Mention at the Berlinale.
Additional features include the children's adventure film 'What a Circus!' (2017).
