På Tvindskolerne ved Ulfborg bygger man i årene 1975-78 Danmarks første kæmpe-vindmølle, som med sine 75 meter også er verdens højeste vindmølle. Politikerne er begyndt at tale om atomkraft på baggrund af oliekrisen i 1973, men Tvind-folkene går med ideen om vedvarende energi. Den 26. april 1978 begynder møllen at producere strøm. Filmen viser, hvordan arbejdet blev organiseret og udført og lader Tvindfolkene selv udtrykke, hvorfor de har valgt vinden som energikilde.
