A working class housing project in Copenhagen during the 1930s Depression seen through the nostalgia-tinged glasses of a now adult Gustav Adolf. He had been six at the time and had been looking forward to the day at the beach so extravagantly planned by his worshipped father. Off they go, a Fellinesque assembly of family and friends. But sea and sun doesn't happen to be Dad's true element.
