Englen Seth får til opgave at hente et lille barn, som netop er blevet opereret af en hjertekirurg. Da Seth opdager kirurgens fortvivlelse og skyldfølelse over den i hendes øjne mislykkede operation, berører det ham voldsomt. Og han engagerer sig i en sådan grad, at han bliver synlig for Maggie - og mere og mere forelsket i hende.
