En videnskabsmand overfaldes og lemlæstes. Hans liv reddes, men en nervebane har måttet overskæres. Som et monster, besiddende overmenneskelige kræfter, flygter han fra hospitalet og indretter sig i en nedlagt fabrik. Her opfylder han sin videnskabelige ambition: fremstillingen af syntetisk hud.
