Apprenticed in animation at Bent Barfod Film, and has since directed and worked in the capacity of chief animator or animator on scores of films, receiving his international breakthrough in the early nineties with 'A Troll in Central Park', 'Thumbelina' and 'Fern Gully: The Last Rain Forest'.
Co-directed his feature film debut, the boxoffice success 'Jungle Jack - The Star' (1996), with Stefan Fjeldmark and Flemming Quist Møller, the film bringing home an honour from Montreal. Lerdam teamed up with Flemming Quist Møller once again on 'Amazon Jack 3 - Jungo Goes Bananas' (2007).
Lerdam also directed the animation features 'Olsen Gang Gets Polished' (2010) and 'Olsen Gang in Deep Trouble' (2013). In 2017 he directed his ninth feature film, 'The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear', together with Philip Einstein Lipski and Amalie Næsby Fick.
